Wearing scraps of the uniform of the Aotearoa Expeditionary Force, Simeon Carter is normally a peaceful explorer of the Island of Shartak.
When required, he will wearily raise his machete against others who have no interest except in shedding blood. He does this not willingly, but out of a sense of justice. Now semi-retired, he spends his time beach combing, conducting experiments, a spot of trading, travel and providing medical treatment to any who need it.
Some outsiders claim he works for the wicksick headhunters, keeping an eye on Midway Island for them, but he'll neither confirm or deny that rumour.
Strapped to a backpack he wears are various gadgets - a telescope, a sextant and a large timepiece the size of your hand. On his belt he wears various pouches which seem to contain specimens collected in his travels. He also has a map that includes areas of the Island you've never heard of before.
