This man is not a pirate in the traditional sense. He wears no sissy ruffled silk shirt, and prefers bourbon to that sickeningly sweet rum any day. Ron Swanson is simply a man who can't be pigeonholed into any single category. His Libertarian ideals left him at odds with the oppressive rule of an unjust government, both as a soldier and a (begrudgingly) tax-paying private citizen.
