The Red Death, reborn of the hatred and bloodshed of Shartak's inhabitants. Blood is it's avatar and its seal -- the redness and the horror of blood. He resembles the countenance of a stiffened corpse. His vesture is dabbled in blood -- and his broad brow, with all the features of the face, was be-sprinkled with the scarlet horror. You see he is dressed in habiliments of the grave.
