This ol sea dog has been driven mad by drinking to much sea water and laying in the sun. On breaks from muttering to himself, he talks to his friend "Betty", thats his cutlass if you were wondering. She hasn't been fed for days, poor thing. Despite being crazy, he is quite fond of the native women *ahem* Yargh!
